Albany Lutherans Together, or ALT, is made up of four ELCA congregations in Albany and Colonie who worship together, serve together, and fellowship together. Formerly known as the Albany Lutheran Cluster, we are moving together into the future as Lutheran Christians in Albany.
A few of our shared activities
Advent Compline on Zoom
This year we began a new tradition of simple compline, or night prayer, at 8pm on Zoom on the Wednesdays of Advent. We hope to try it again next year.
Lent Vespers, with supper beforehand
For many years, our congregations have gathered on Wednesdays in Lent for vespers, preceded by a simple meal. The location changes weekly and the meal and service is always excellent.
Celebration of the Great Vigil of Easter
Also new this year, as an intentional activity of all four congregations, was the celebration of the Great Vigil of Easter. Held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church this year on the Saturday night before Easter, we worshipped by candlelight as we heard the story of God’s saving acts through time. We then turned up the lights, the brass rang out, and we celebrated the first eucharist of Easter.
Meals for the CACC Emergency Overflow Shelter
Members from one of our four congregations, plus Unity Lutheran Church, provide a meal for the CACC Emergency Overflow Shelter every Tuesday they are open.
